The climate is a varied and is influenced by latitude, mountainous topography and the Pacific Ocean. In general temperatures are warmer in the south than in the north, and rainfall is heaviest along the coast and lightest in the southern interior.

The sea life is plentiful year round but winter is the best as the plankton dies off and the visibility can reach over 100feet. The waters around British Columbia are home to more than 350 species of fish, largest species of octopus, playful wolf eels, sea lions, seals, six gill sharks, orca whales and thousands of different invertebrates.

The Artificial Reef Society of British Columbia, ARSBC, is a non-profit society based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Our mission is to create environmentally- and economically-sustainable "artificial reefs" in British Columbia and around the world for the enjoyment of Scuba Divers, and for the protection of environmentally- and historically-sensitive marine habitats. Since 1991, the ARSBC has sunk 6 ships and one Boeing 737 in B.C. Our website has updated news, information on the 7 previous reefs we have created, and resource information on the advantages, disadvantages, and environmental regulations surrounding our artificial reefs.
