| British Columbia has been
rated as one of the best cold water destinations in the
world by Rodale's Scuba Diving magazine and Jacques Cousteau.
The sea life is plentiful year round but winter is the
best as the plankton dies off and the visibility can reach
over 100feet. The waters around British Columbia are home
to more than 350 species of fish, largest species of octopus,
playful wolf eels, sea lions, seals, six gill sharks,
orca whales and thousands of different invertebrates.
The Artificial
Reef Society of British Columbia, ARSBC, is a non-profit
society based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
Our mission is to create environmentally- and economically-sustainable
"artificial reefs" in British Columbia and
around the world for the enjoyment of Scuba Divers,
and for the protection of environmentally- and historically-sensitive
marine habitats. Since 1991, the ARSBC has sunk 6 ships
and one Boeing 737 in B.C. Our website has updated news,
information on the 7 previous reefs we have created,
and resource information on the advantages, disadvantages,
and environmental regulations surrounding our artificial
reefs.
